Measures of ecological change

Using ecological similarity, we generated a series of data layers with different calculations and modes of comparison between baseline and future climates. This produces several specific measures which address different questions about the magnitude and nature of likely change in biodiversity.

To learn about these measures choose from the menu of questions on the right-hand side. For each question you will find an explanation of the measure we use to help address the question and example outputs presenting:

  • a national context
  • a regional focus

The maps and data related to these measures for all parts of Australia, our four biological groups, and our two climate scenarios are available through the CSIRO Data Access Portal. Suggestions for using this information in planning processes can be found under the Planning examples section.
